Tangier to Fez : A 5-Day Journey Through Morocco's Northern Region

Upon your arrival at the airport or port gate, we will greet you and transport you in an air-conditioned car. Following that, we will take you on a brief and enjoyable tour of Tangier, where you will have the opportunity to explore this vibrant international city in Morocco.

Your accommodation for the night will be provided in a hotel or riad.

On the second day, after you have finished your breakfast, we will depart for Chefchaouen.

On your way to Morocco's Blue Pearl, you will see and enjoy magnificent landscapes, mother Nature's beauty, and the serenity of the mountains.

After entering the Chefchaouen Medina, you should begin hiking to Rass El Ma, a well-known water source perched on a mountain, from whence you can survey the majority of the city and take in its straightforward yet exquisite architecture. A square filled by cafes and restaurants known as Uta el Hammam is one of the symbolic structures and buildings you will pass on your approach to the summit. It is a peaceful location to sit back and let the world go by. The Kasbah, an 18th-century walled fortress that has been extensively repaired and now has a lovely garden, can be found on the plaza. But without viewing the Great Spanish Mosque, your day excursion from Tangier to Chefchaouen isn't complete. It, together with other monuments, was constructed in the 15th century.

We will stay overnight in a hotel or riad.

Following breakfast, we will leave our hotel and make our way to Volubilis, an ancient Roman city situated near Meknes in northern Morocco. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is renowned for its well-preserved Roman ruins and mosaics, making it one of the best examples of Roman ruins in North Africa.

Volubilis

During our visit to Volubilis, we will explore the city's various landmarks, including its temples, public buildings, and mosaics. We'll learn about the city's history and how it played a vital role in trade and commerce during ancient times.

A must-see attraction at Volubilis is the Triumphal Arch, an impressive entrance gate to the city that dates back to the 3rd century AD. This arch is one of the finest examples of Roman architecture in Morocco.

After our visit to Volubilis, we will proceed to Meknes, a stunning city in northern Morocco that is famous for its magnificent palaces, expansive squares, and impressive city walls.

Meknes

We'll begin our tour of Meknes by visiting the Bab Mansour gate, an exquisite entrance gate that showcases the finest Moroccan architecture. This gate leads to the Place el-Hedim, the city's main square that is surrounded by various cafes, shops, and local markets.

Next, we'll visit the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, where the powerful Moroccan sultan, who built the city in the 17th century, is laid to rest. This mausoleum is an excellent example of Moroccan architecture and features intricate tilework and calligraphy.

Our tour of Meknes will end with a visit to the Dar Jamai Museum, a beautifully restored palace that houses traditional Moroccan crafts and artwork. The museum boasts an impressive collection of textiles, ceramics, jewelry, and other artifacts that provide a fascinating insight into Morocco's rich cultural heritage.

Finally, we'll spend the night in a riad or hotel located in Fez.

Fez

Fez is a bustling and culturally rich city in Morocco, famous for its medieval architecture and lively souks.

After breakfast, we will begin our tour of the city by exploring the Old Medina, which is a car-free urban area and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As we wander through the narrow streets and alleys, we will experience the vibrant markets and local shops.

We will visit the Bou Inania Madrasa, a restored 14th-century Islamic school that boasts stunning Moroccan architecture with intricate tilework and calligraphy.

Next, we'll explore the Al-Attarine Madrasa, another beautiful 14th-century Islamic school famous for its stucco carvings and tilework.

We'll also take a tour of the Mellah, the historic Jewish Quarter, a colorful neighborhood that offers a unique glimpse into the city's rich Jewish heritage.

After a break, we'll visit the ancient tanneries of Fez, which are some of the world's largest and oldest. We'll witness the traditional process of leather processing and dyeing using natural materials while enjoying stunning views of the city from the tannery rooftops.

In the afternoon, we'll visit the serene Jardin Jnan Sbil, a picturesque garden that provides a tranquil escape from the city's bustling streets.

Finally, we'll end our tour with a visit to the grand Royal Palace, located in the heart of the city, which showcases the country's rich royal heritage with its impressive gates, beautiful gardens, and ornate decorations.
